Mike Warren. Empty diary so early to Leighton and saw Bearded Tits but no pictures other than contrived on the grit trays. Then to the marsh hides but as tide was low the waders were away feeding. However a distant Kingfisher was nice to see. Main site quiet so went to Sunderland Point - I have been asked to do a talk about tides in Lancaster so am looking at the tide in the Lune - I generally concentrate on the Kent but thought I should mention the Lune there! ... Mike Warren. Joined a group searching for more Brown Hairstreak eggs yesterday - good numbers seen. Photos not ideal will try again when it's better weather. Also someone found what looked like a larva on a small twig and our expert suggested it was one but infected with fungus. Visit with granddaughter and friends (one on crutches!) in the afternoon to Trowbarrow (she's a climber) and then the Causeway hide at Leighton. ... See MoreSee Less

Been busy (and or wet) Lovely day at Leighton today but paths flooded, Very little showing - then went to get some drone pictures of the Bela/Kent confluence - it moved a few months ago and is still flowing north into the river which has now abandoned Sandside and shifted north. Mike Warren. Arnside Naturalist's trip recently to Potts Corner on the high tide. Jack Snipe, Grey Plover and the regulars - Dunlin, Knot, Oystercatcher, Redshank Curlew and a Rock Pipit or two.
