Mike Warren. A second visit to the Bluebell wood last week and then, at the weekend, to the old railway line at Heversham where much (apparently haphazard) tree felling was thought to have wrought significant damage to the drift of Twayblade. However, I found a modest number in areas free of damage and debris, so if the area is now left undisturbed they should survive OK as there appears not to be the 200 or so I found a couple of years ago but a decent number. ... Mike Warren. Short spell at the Crag - Peregrines had been heard but not seen although the Raven chicks were still entertaining. Then to Leighton where got a lovely view of Sedge Warbler - pictured - and evasive Cetti! Avocets were scraping nests and Damselflies are emerging. Mike Warren. After speaking to the U3A science group, I called at Foulshaw on the way home. Managed to get a female Brimstone butterfly, heard a Grasshopper Warbler and an Osprey was as close as I've see there - they are usually too distant to be photographed but today was acceptable as a record.
